Well made black comedy, based on the stage production by Wendy MacLeod. Cast includes Parker Posey, Josh Harnilton, Tori Spelling, Freddie Prinze, Jr., Genevieve Bujold, and Rachael Leigh Cook. (90 minutes, 1997)Thieves: Hard postwar drama about a returning vet looking for revenge from his trucker dad's punishment at the hands of a crooked fruit trader in San Francisco. Cast includes Richard Conte, Valentina Cortese, Lee J. Cobb, Barbara Lawrence, Jack Oakie, Millard Mitchell, and Joseph Pevney. (94 minutes, 1996)Track of the Cat: Tennessee Williams meets American mid evil in this unusually abrasive drama in regards to a home filled with bitterness, remorse, and envy, and how the search for a killer cougar changes the dynamics of the family. Cast includes Teresa Wright, Tab Hunter, Diana Lynn, Beulah Bondi, Philip Tonge, William Basket, and Carl (Alfalfa) Switzer. (102 minutes, 1954)Hannibal Rising: Hannibal as a youngster at the end of WW2 he had to watch when Nazi collaborators abused his younger sis! As a youthful adult (Dlliel), empowered by his Japanese mothers sibling, he hunts down the killers and imposes cruel reprisal. Handsome however ponderous, dull and self-vital, albeit on no account as gory as may be anticipated. Cast includes Gaspard Ulliel, Rhys Ifans, Gong Li, Helena Lia Tachovska, Dominic West, Aaron Thomas, Kevin McKidd, and Richard Brake. (121 minutes, 2007)The Guru: Harmless comedy in reference to an Indian dance professor (Mistry) who comes to America desiring popularity and fortune in the movie industry. As an alternative, he lands a job in a porno film, is befriended by its gorgeous megastar (who's truly an "excellent gal" leading a triple life), then accidentally gets to be a star as the "expert of sex." Some ludicrous gags, a likable leading guy, and excellent joke performances by Graham and Tomei improve this choppy feel-good flick. (91 minutes, 2003)Jurassic Park III: Amusing popcorn film that takes a recipe and plays it for all it's worth as professor-paleontologist Neill is convinced to lead an expedition to the prohibited island where dinosaurs wander, however obviously he hasn't been informed of the realities. The movie is full of scares, and lots of fun proving that a thriller kind doesn't have to be dumb. Cast includes Sam Neill, William H. Macy, Tea Leoni, Alessandro Nivola, Trevor Morgan, Michael Jeter, John Diehl, and Bruce A. Young. (93 minutes, 2001)The Buddy System: Desolate baby tries to play matchmaker between his lone mommy and a grown-up buddy, could-be novelist and tool creator Dreyfuss, however there are spiritual problems. Pleasantly played although excessively recognizable (and overlong) romantic comedy. Cast includes Richard Dreyfuss, Susan Sarandon, Nancy Allen, Jean Stapleton, Will Wheaton, Edward Fall, and Keene Curtis. (110 minutes, 1984)I hope you enjoyed the reviews.
