Most organizations need a printing service on a regular basis, whether it is for promotional purposes or intra-company communication. Hence it is helpful to learn about the basic working of the commonly used printing process called offset printing.Offset printing can generate a large number of prints quickly, which makes it more economical than other techniques and also more popular. Therefore good printing service providers recommend the use of offset printing for bulk prints. This printing technology uses oil-based ink, which is not soluble in water. Its name comes from the fact that in this process, images are not transported directly from the plates to the paper but this is done through rubber blankets as a medium.First step is to develop the images. Film negatives were used in the earlier times for making images and then reproducing them to aluminum based printing plates. But, a modern printing company would now develop the plates directly by making use of an image setting system. The subsequent step is to attach the plate on to a cylinder in the right manner. Next, the water is spread on the image plates, which is followed by the ink. The ink is poured over the image and to restrict it from overflowing, a thin layer of water is spread over the remaining part of the plate.Next, the image is turned around when it is transmitted to a rubber blanket which is stuck to another cylinder. Afterwards, sheets of paper of required dimensions are put together and the rubber blankets transfer the image to the sheets on a third cylinder, where it comes out as the correct side. The final steps of the printing job involve things such as stapling, gluing or arranging the printed sheets according to the instructions of the client, and any printing company should easily manage these.
